- The Knee plays (dramatic interludes) were originally the American part of the opera entitled The CIVIL warS, conceived as a world-wide theater piece to be presented in conjunction with the Olympic games in Los Angeles in 1984. The version depicted on this videotape is a preview held prior to the world premiere.
