Description
1 videocassette (VHS, NTSC) (69 min.) : sd., col.; 1/2 in.
Summary
Panel discussion, first in a series of three. Clytemnestra, choreographed by Martha Graham in 1958, was the first full-length modern dance work, and is considered the culminating work of her Greek cycle. Firsthand accounts of its creation are provided by panelists Halim El-Dabh, who composed its score, and Helen McGehee and Ethel Winter, members of the Martha Graham Dance Company who respectively originated the roles of Electra and Helen of Troy. The reminiscences of Bertram Ross, who played the dual role of Agamemnon/Orestes opposite Graham's Clytemnestra, are relayed through letter. A question-and-answer session concludes the program.
