- This tape contains the first hour of the 1989 Tony Awards, taped from a live broadcast on CBS. The tape ends during the presentation of the award for best leading actor in a play. Later in the evening Jerome Robbins received the award for best director of a musical, and Jerome Robbins' Broadway received the award for best musical.
