- Summary
- Actor, author, playwright and activist Ruby Dee discusses her career with interviewer Billie Allen. The discussion begins with Ms. Dee's early years in Harlem, her education, her introduction to acting through the American Negro Theatre, and the political activism which lead to the blacklisting of many performers and artists in the 1950s. Ms. Dee also discusses her marriage to fellow actor and playwright Ossie Davis, and muses on the cultural role of the actor.
