Its first version was designed and built in 1969 by Emmanuel Ghent and James Seawright under the sponsorship of the Mimi Garrard Dance Company, and subsequently updated by Bill Hemsath, Dana Batali and Andrew Seawright. The video includes excerpts from Phosphones (choreography by Mimi Garrard ; music and lighting by Emmanuel Ghent), the first work created with this system.
