Lyricist Tim Rice discusses his project King David, prior to its premiere at the newly restored New Amsterdam Theatre, with interviewers Michael Riedel and Susan Haskins. A brief rehearsal sequence of King David is included. Rice also discusses earlier works Chess and Evita, the importance of the producer to the success of a musical show, and his relationship with former collaborator Andrew Lloyd Webber.
