Summary
Profile of Montréal-based dancer and choreographer Paul-André Fortier, highlighting his solo La tentation de la transparence, which he performed on tour in Canada and Europe at the age of 45. In interview footage, he discusses his belief that one can be a dancer at any age ; how his late start as a dancer affected his concept of dance ; his choreographic process ; his interest in teaching young choreographers ; his repudiation of beauty and decorativeness in dance ; his education in literature and theater ; his beginnings as a dancer and his parents' opposition to his dance career ; the demands of artistic creation ; his sense of danger in dancing solos. In addition to extensive rehearsal and performance footage of La tentation de la transparence, he is also seen performing a duet from his piece Violence (1980) with Michèle Febvre, and dancing with the Groupe Nouvelle Aire in Martine Epoque's Pour conjurer la montagne.
