- Summary
- Documentary tracing the history of the Fort Wayne Dance Collective, a modern dance company founded in 1979 by five women. The program explores its origins, organizational structure, and guiding philosophies, and depicts its many activities, which include performances, dance and movement classes, outreach programs, and the sponsorship of individual artists and groups. The many dance excerpts screened throughout the program include: Women in power ; Diane Elliot's What's wrong with this picture? ; Liz Monnier's Pushing through ; Fredrick ; Monnier and Ranny Levy's Virgin one, seen in four performances between 1979 and 1999 ; Krissy Keefer's Nights of the round table ; Ground zero ; Monnier's Heartbeats ; Debra Knapp's Vanishing fireflies ; Monnier's Boards, danced by the company's board of directors ; James Tyler's The green isle in the sea.
