Summary
  • Tribute marking the centenary of the birth of George Gershwin (1898-1937). Vincent Curcio, general manager of the White Barn Theatre, introduces the program. Anna Strasberg reads a note from actress Sophia Loren, expressing her regret that she cannot attend. A number of songs written by George and Ira Gershwin are sung; Marge Champion and Donald Saddler perform a dance duet to They can't take that away from me. Performance ends at 64:04.
  • At 64:06, coverage of the post-performance party begins, and lasts about nine minutes. White Barn Theatre founder/artistic director Lucille Lortel (1900-1999) makes one of her last public appearances in this sequence.
