Summary

Scenes featuring Rudolf Nureyev in the title role. The camera focuses mainly on Nureyev, with the other characters audible from off-camera . The first segment (ca. 14 min.) is an excerpt from Act I, running from the king's conversation with Anna in his private chamber to the prayer to Buddha, led by the king. The second segment (ca. 18 min.) is from Act II, beginning with a conversation between the king, Anna, and Sir Edward Ramsay, and closing with the king's exit after his failure to punish Tuptim for her attempted elopement. It includes the number "Shall we dance?"
