Summary

Scenes featuring Rudolf Nureyev in the title role, probably recorded at two performances. The first set of excerpts (ca. 41 min.) begins with the scene in which Tuptim is introduced as a present to the king, and closes with the king's deathbed scene ; among these excerpts are the beginning of "The march of the Siamese children," Nureyev's singing of "A puzzlement," and the song-and-dance number "Shall we dance?" The second set of excerpts (ca. 51 min.) begins with Anna's first scene with the king and closes with "Shall we dance?" ; it also includes "The march of the Siamese children" (in full) and "A puzzlement," as well as other scenes.
