- Report on SANGA, the third Rencontres de la Création Chorégraphique de l'Afrique et de l'Océan Indien, held in Antananarivo, Madagascar, with additional commentary on contemporary African dance. First prize in the competition went to The Floating Outfit Project, Soweto, South Africa, performing Rone, choreographed by Ntikelelo Cekwana; second prize to Tchétché, Ivory Coast, performing Sans repères, by Beatrice Kombe Gnapa; third prize to The City Theatre and Dance Group, Johannesburg, South Africa, performing Robyn Orlin's Daddy I've seen the piece six times before and I still don't know why they're hurting each other. Other choreographers discussed include Soulemayne Badolo and Paul Martin Ebalé Zam.
