- A "convergence of sound and poetry" influenced by the Arctic landscape and language of northeastern Alaska; uses natural sounds, drum rhythms, and spoken texts.
- The 2nd, 6th, and 9th sections are for 4 drummers only; the remaining sections include texts composed of the Gwitch'in (Indian) and I-nupiat (Eskimo) names for Arctic places, plants, weather, and seasons, as well as texts in English and Latin.
