- David Henry Hwang talks about his progression as a playwright from his first efforts in college to working for Joseph Papp and eventually writing M. Butterfly, his family background, his plays FOB [Freight on board, written as an undergraduate at Stanford University], Family devotions, and Dance and the railroad, the time spent writing, re-writing, and directing M. Butterfly, and his intentions in this play.
- Alfred Uhry talks about writing lyrics for years while teaching at Brown University, re-writing the books for old musicals produced by the Goodspeed Opera House, writing the lyrics for and adapting Robert Waldman's musical Robber bridegroom, his first play Driving Miss Daisy, and adapting the play as a motion picture.
- Gregory Mosher talks about the success of New York City's Lincoln Center Theater, the advantages of a membership theater over a subscription house, and his own views on directing a play.
