- Robert Lewis discusses the Group Theatre, its formation and his later disagreements with it, the founding of the Actors' Studio, and the Russian teacher Konstantin Stanislavsky.
- Larry Gelbart discusses his early days writing for radio, television, and finally theater, how news and politics play up to television, and his play Mastergate.
- Tommy Tune expresses his belief that in order to produce a smoothly flowing musical theater production one must both direct and choreograph the show, and discusses his production of Grand Hotel.
- Terrence McNally explains the functions of the Dramatists Guild, expresses his belief that a writer works best in regional theater and not in commercial theater; and talks of his preference for writing for the actors he favors.
