Summary
Profile of Gweneth Lloyd, who founded the Royal Winnipeg Ballet with Betty Farrally and David Yeddeau. Lloyd recalls her upbringing and dance training in England, her move to Winnipeg with Farrally, and their establishment of a dance studio and the Winnipeg Ballet Club, which became the Royal Winnipeg Ballet. Speaking in separate interviews, Lloyd, Farrally and Yeddeau look back upon the company's history. Examples of the company's repertory are provided through still photographs and an excerpt from the film version of Lloyd's Shadow on the prairie. Lloyd, a gifted teacher who advised the National Ballet of Canada in its early years, is seen teaching class. She also discusses her work at the Banff Centre for the Arts, and her move, with Farrally, to Kelowna, British Columbia.
