Summary
Dancers associated with Antony Tudor at American Ballet Theatre and other companies share their memories of him. They begin by recalling their first impressions of his work, whether as viewers or performers, then talk about roles they created or revived in his ballets. The discussion illuminates his working methods and his interactions with his dancers, particularly his means of eliciting the expressional qualities he sought in his works. The ballets discussed include Pillar of Fire, The leaves are fading, Lilac garden, Dim lustre, Echoing of trumpets, Judgment of Paris, and others. Among the less known works recalled are Concerning oracles (1966) and La ronde de printemps (1951).
