Summary
Documentary on the creation of the ballet The rite of spring, choreographed by Salvatore Aiello for North Carolina Dance Theatre in 1993. Footage of the company at various stages of rehearsal and in performance illuminates Aiello's discussion of his approach to the music, concept of the action, and development of specific movement and visual images through choreography, scenery and costumes. The program includes a complete performance of the work, recorded at the Booth Theater of North Carolina Blumenthal Performing Arts Center.
