Summary
  • Fifth episode of an adaptation of Alex Haley's Roots, in which he traces his family's history from the mid-18th century when one of his ancestors, Kunta Kinte, was captured and sold into slavery. The series follows the struggle for freedom which began with the young man's abduction and was continued by his descendants.
  • Chicken George is sent to England as payment for his owner's gambling debt. Fourteen years later, he returns to American a free man. The Civil War erupts , and the era of slavery draws to an end.
