Summary
A film adaptation of the autobiography of the Afro-American author, Clifton L. Taulbert, which chronicles his coming of age in the segregated South in a time when the Ku Klux Klan terrorized the streets and "White only" were among the first words learned by African American children. Clifton was encouraged by the love and kinship of the tightly-knit community to overcome the bigotry and intolerance of the South, allowing him to embark on an extraordinary journey.
