- Ms. Hayden discusses the current New York City Ballet season; young talent at the School of American Ballet; lecture-demonstrations as a way to reach new audiences; working with the Ford Foundation in finding young talent; guest performances with other companies; balancing her career with family responsibilities; taking men's classes; her own dance background; working at Radio City Music Hall and Ballet Theatre; Alicia Alonso's company; the Saratoga Performing Arts Center; touring with Alonso's company; joining New York City Ballet in 1949; working with George Balanchine on his ballet Theme and variations while at Ballet Theatre; how the New York City Ballet has changed over the years; dancing with the Royal Ballet and other companies to experience other styles and techniques; and the Saratoga season.
