- Summary
- The Joffrey Ballet's artistic director, Robert Joffrey, discusses the origins of the company and its growth over the years ; its aims as a repertory company ; the special qualities of American dancers ; his ballet Remembrances, created for Francesca Corkle (ca. 8 min.).
- Footage of Léonide Massine and Robert Joffrey on the set of Parade; Gary Chryst being made up for the role of the Chinese conjuror (ca. 3 min., si. and sd.).
- Rehearsal of Parade, supervised by Léonide Massine and Robert Joffrey. The rehearsal is onstage with some dancers in costume and others in practice clothes or partial costumes. Includes piano accompaniment. Massine explains what the dancers should express in the final scene of the ballet, and clarifies details of the choreography (ca. 8 min.).
