Summary
Following introduction by host, Marian Horosko, recording is broadcast of excerpts from the ceremony for the 1965 Dance magazine awards. In the first excerpt, World of dance host, Alvin H. Reiss interviews Lydia Joel, editor of Dance magazine, about the Dance magazine awards and the award recipients, Maya Plisetskaya, Margaret D'Houbler, and Edwin Denby. Reiss then interviews William Como, advertising and promotions director of Dance magazine, who speaks about the growth of dance and Dance magazine's world-wide circulation, including its use in dance schools in Russia. In the second excerpt, Sol Hurok introduces Maya Plisetskaya, presents her with her award, and translates her brief acceptance remarks. In the third excerpt, Doris Hering speaks about different types of dance writing, describes the writing of Edwin Denby, and presents Denby with his award. Closing remarks and announcements by Horosko.
