- The 1st work originally for organ, arr. for orchestra; the 2nd a cantata for baritone, chorus and orchestra; the 3rd for marimba and percussion; the 4th an opera excerpt for violin and orchestra; the 5th, 8th & 9th for unison chorus and orchestra; the 6th for orchestra; the 7th an excerpt from a masque for baritone, chorus and orchestra.
- Text of the 2nd work selected by Osbert Sitwell from Biblical sources (based on the story from the 5th chapter of Daniel); the 5th work incoporates A.C. Benson's text "Land of hope and glory"; text of 7th work by James Thomson; text of 8th work by William Blake.
