- Signed with the rubric (ink) of Félix Berenguer de Marquina, Viceroy of New Spain and by his executive secretary.
- This document firmly outlaws the then popular dance, the Jaravo gatuno, declared to be immoral.
- A penalty of five years imprisonment is placed upon the performer of the dance and two years upon the observer. These "castigos" were applied to male and female offenders. Cf. *MGS (Mexican) Schwendener and Tibbels. Legends and dances of old Mexico. 1934. p. 3.
