- Summary
- Documentary on the life and work of Ruth Page, much of it told by herself. She looks back upon her childhood in Indianapolis; her experiences as a dancer with Pavlova, Bolm, and the Music Box Revue; her marriage to Tom Fisher; her Americana ballets created in Chicago; her abstract works created with Remisov, Noguchi, and Tchelitchew; her partnerships with Harald Kreutzberg and Bentley Stone; and her opera ballets. Contemporary footage shows her demonstrating a barre and rehearsing Carmina burana with the Chicago Ballet. The biographical material is interspersed with scenes of a party given in her honor. Among the guests are her brother Irvine, Patricia McBride, Melissa Hayden, Lehman Engel, Jerome Moross, and the critics Walter Terry and John Martin, who pay tribute to her achievements. Additional commentaries are offered by Pauline Koner, Antoni Clavé, and André Delfau.
