Maina Gielgud, artistic director of the Australian Ballet, discusses her experiences with the company in working to develop the potential of her dancers through exchanges with other companies, residencies by guest teachers and coaches, and her own teaching and direction. She also talks about Australian attitudes towards dance as a profession, her own qualities as a dancer, and her training with Lubov Egorova and Rosella Hightower. The Australian Ballet is seen in excerpts from Giselle, László Seregi's Spartacus, and Serge Lifar's Suite en blanc.
