Summary
Guests are Roger Babb, a writer, actor and director who heads the experimental theater group Otrabanda; dancer Rob Besserer, currently performing with Mark Morris; and Jeannie Hutchins, who has performed with Ping Chong and the Fiji Company and in independent works. They discuss various types of interchange between dancing and acting, including the dancer's use of his/her voice onstage, the contribution a theater director can make to a dance performance, working on roles, and the benefits dancers can gain from studying acting. Babb describes his collaborations with choreographers Timothy Buckley and Rocky Bornstein. Hutchins is seen in excerpts from Chong's Nosferatu and Kindness, and in her own Befriending an ancient enemy; Besserer in Morris's The death of Socrates and Pièces en concert (the latter with Morris and Susan Hadley); and members of Otrabanda in Brain café, written and directed by Babb.
