Summary
Dancers/choreographers Fred Mathews and Gary Masters discuss their professional and personal partnership. They recount how they left the José Limón Dance Company in order to pursue their own choreographic interests, and describe their experiences as administrators of their own company and as artists-in-residence with Dance Kaleidoscope of Indianapolis. Dance excerpts depict Mathews' Rags on vaudeville, performed by Masters and others, and Masters' Suite Gagnon, performed by Mathews. In Profiles, Bella Lewitzky recalls her work with Lester Horton. Excerpts of her choreography, including Confines, are performed by the Lewitzky Dance Company of Los Angeles.
