Description
1 videocassette (U-matic, NTSC) (29 min.) : sd., col.; 3/4 in.
Summary
Ballerina Alexandra Danilova and premier danseur Frederic Franklin reminisce about their long and luminous partnership as stars of the Ballet Russe de Monte Carlo. They note some technical aspects of partnering that aided their success (for example, hand holds), compare lifts of yesterday and today, discuss mime and expression in dance, and describe the values they try to impart to their students today. An excerpt from Anne Belle's film Reflections of a dancer - Alexandra Danilova, prima ballerina assoluta shows the two teaching the ballet Paquita to members of the Cincinnati Ballet. Franklin's current activities are represented by a recorded excerpt from Schéhérazade, which he restaged for Dance Theatre of Harlem.
