Summary
Nutritionists Wendy Banker and Marilyn Schorin present two slightly different opinions of what constitutes good nutrition for dancers. Among the topics they discuss are what dancers should eat for energy, the emotional effects of food, the timing of meals before activity or performance, nutrition for dancers recovering from injuries, misconceptions about protein and salt tablets, sports drinks and water loss, and maintaining good nutrition while on tour. Dancers Angie Ralston and Laura Corson present dances and a song on the topic of food during the program. In Esoterica balletica, Harvey Lichtenstein, the president of Brooklyn Academy of Music, tells an anecdote about Martha Graham during one of her appearances at the Brooklyn Academy of Music.
