- Summary
- John Job, company manager of Momix, and Rhoda Grauer, director of media development and special projects for American Ballet Theatre, discuss their companies' objectives in entering the field of television. They compare the different concerns of artists and television producers, as demonstrated by Twyla Tharp's Making television dance, an excerpt of which is screened. Grauer also describes the making of Tharp's The Catherine wheel. To illustrate the special challenges of designing dance for television, they discuss and show excerpts from Moses Pendleton presents Moses Pendleton and David Gordon's What happened. In Esoterica balletica, Dianne McIntyre pays tribute to composer Eubie Blake's influence on American musical theater with a description of his musical comedy Shuffle along.
