- Summary
- Catherine Turocy and Ann Jacoby, co-founders of the New York Baroque Dance Company, and company member Roger Tolle talk about their video The art of dancing: An introduction to baroque dance, a b&w segment of which opens the program. They discuss the making of the video and its function as a teaching tool, as well as a number of topics pertinent to 18th-century dance, such as the role of the dancing master, the interraction of the sexes, the effects of costume on movement, the stylization of emotion, and Feuillet notation. In Esoterica balletica, Betty Low recalls Nicholas Legat's ballet classes in England.
