An examination of the works of American choreographer Ruth Page and her role in developing Americana themes in ballet. Conversations with Miss Page are interspersed with brief excerpts from her Americana ballets American pattern, An American in Paris (with Bentley Stone), and Frankie and Johnny, and from her abstract works Variations on Euclid, Possessed (with Talley Beatty), and Concertino pour trois. Also seen is an excerpt from Carmina burana. Originally silent footage has been provided with musical accompaniment.
