Summary
A documentary film about the yearly custom of fire dancing which occurs on the Greek Orthodox St. Constantine's day in the present-day Macedonian village of Aghia Heleni Serres. The fire dancing is the culmination of day-long ceremonies, including ritual animal sacrifice. The chosen believers, some in ecstatic trances, dance repeatedly across burning embers, while holding icons, until sickness, animal diseases, and ill fortune are exorcised.
