- [Commercial announcements for initial ca. 3:00 min. followed by Martha Deane's introduction of Martha Graham]. Graham speaks with Deane about audiences unfamiliar with modern dance or Graham's work; her first public performances; what has been referred to as her "long, woolen underwear period;" her belief that freedom is discipline [commercial announcements]; the end of her performing career; her diet; her image of the dancer as a shell [fish]; her philosophy of teaching; her new works Mendicants of an evening and Myth of a voyage; the character Clytemnestra [interview ends at end of track 7; tracks 8-11 consist of commercial announcements and a news broadcast].

- Interview with Martha Graham interviewed by Martha Deane, as the host on the series The Martha Deane show, on the radio station WOR-AM, New York, broadcast on April 24, 1973. The recording contains approx. 15 min. of commercial announcements and news broadcasts, including the last ca. 11 min.
- Martha Deane was the pseudonym of Marian Young Taylor, who was host of The Martha Deane program from 1941-1973. This was also the pseudonym used by the first host, Mary Margaret McBride, who hosted the show until 1940, and of Bessie Beatty, who was the second host.
- Sound quality is good. There are several interruptions for commercial announcements.
