- Summary
- Mme. Dudinskaya discusses the repertory and dancers of the Kirov Ballet Company. Mr. Chujoy discusses the history of ballet in Russia; the Russian style; the Kirov Ballet's status in Russian artistic life. Mme. Dudinskaya discusses the training of the Kirov dancers and the school of the Kirov. Chujoy discusses differences in the structure and organization of Russian and American ballet companies and Konstantin Sergeyev, premier danseur and artistic director of the Kirov Ballet. Mme. Dudinskaya discusses her teaching and coaching duties, and the theories of Sergeyev; her own training with Agrippina Vaganova; in detail, the content of the company technique class, which she teaches; the status of dancers in the Soviet Union.

Dudinskaya, prima ballerina, principal ballet mistress of the Leningrad Kirov Ballet and wife of Konstantin Sergeyev, speaks in English and in Russian. Anatole Chujoy, author and critic, participates in the discussion, and acts as translator.
