Summary
Collection consists of correspondence, copies of her published and unpublished works, research and teaching notes, personal papers, photographs, and memorabilia. General correspondence, 1901-1981, includes letters written to Deutsch by other poets and critics. Correspondence, 1921-1922, concerning her publication Contemporary German Poetry is with German and Austrian poets whose work she anthologized. Family correspondence, 1905-1981, contains letters she and her husband wrote during their trip to the Soviet Union in 1923-1924, as well as Yarmolinsky's love letters, 1920-1921, to Deutsch. Deutsch's literary work in the collection, 1919-1981, consists of typescripts of poetry, novels, essays, and works for children. Also, lecture notes and other materials, 1947, 1960s, related to her research and teaching; scrapbooks of clippings, 1917-1947, of her book reviews; essays by Yarmolinsky; and photographs, ca. 1860s-1970s, of Deutsch and her family.

  • Babette Deutsch (1895-1982) was a poet, author and critic. In addition to ten volumes of poetry, she wrote novels, children's stories, and criticism. In collaboration with her husband, Avrahm Yarmolinsky, she edited and translated Russian, German and French poetry. She taught at Columbia University and the New School for Social Research.

Biography
Babette Deutsch (1895-1982) was a poet, author and critic. In addition to ten volumes of poetry, she wrote novels, children's stories, and criticism. In collaboration with her husband, Avrahm Yarmolinsky, she edited and translated Russian, German and French poetry. She taught at Columbia University and the New School for Social Research.
