- The Schomburg Center Manuscripts, Archives & Rare Book Division has two copies of the book; copy 1 in (Sc Rare 326.1-C (Clarkson, T. Essay on the slavery. 1788) is a post-Lawrence Reddick addition to the collection. It contains an "Arthur A. Schomburg Negro Collection" bookplate but lacks the NYPL perforated stamp and any other stamps or processing markings of the original Schomburg Collection; and the shelf list card has July 24, 1950, in G.K. Halls, v. 2, page 1446, column 3, row 5; Imperfect: bound in green cloth over boards library binding, and gilt spine.Copy 2 in Sc Rare 326.1-C (Clarkson, T. Essay on the slavery. 1788) (accession no. H266104) also includes an NYPL's bookplate of "Arthur A. Schomburg Negro Collection." It lacks the NYPL perforated stamp and any other stamps but; contains some original Schomburg Collection processing markings; Its accession number put it in the range of books added to the collection when Catherine A. Latimer was the collection librarian; and Lawrence Reddick was the Curator. Imperfect: lacks original cover and is bound in red cloth over boards, library binding, and gilt spine.
